Honest question. So which one am I? As it always has been, the star of the SV’s show is its 645cc 90-degree V-Twin engine. I don’t have a long commute and we have plenty of more appropriate touring bikes in the Rider garage, so for cruising around town and half-day blasts up the local canyons, the cool-as-a-cucumber Suzuki best matched my personality.

It wasn’t a problem on any of the roads I took in, and certainly not on country lanes, where you tend to move around more, but if you’re just going to be using this for a daily commute, I’d recommend the version without the dropped clip-on bars. With the economy I got, I could coax 150miles from a tank, so expect to be filling up every 120miles or so. Which one do you think of when you wake up? Hacking down a motorway, the engine is fine – there’s never a point where you feel it’s underpowered, but a big tourer it is not; there’s simply not the grunt to lazily drive past other vehicles without at least one or two taps of the gear lever. It had only done 56miles when I took it out, and perhaps it was just the differing roads, but it certainly seemed to open up a little.
