If you’ve been a reader of Middle of Somewhere for awhile, you know that I am all about accessories, especially those that have a special, one-of-a-kind feel to them. I am definitely a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, so I love to find unique pieces to add visual interest to an outfit. I was recently shopping at Target (shocker!) and couldn’t help but notice all of their new pastel and neutral pieces that are out for spring. While on my baby-less (!!!) trip through the store, I came across these dv for Target wedges and decided that I just had to have them. I also happened to come across the Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ display, and knew I had to pick up a few bottles. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful colors portrayed on the glass bottles, and Diet Coke is a total guilty pleasure of mine, so it was a win-win for me! After picking out my favorite designs, I thought it would be fun to play around with the colors and patterns on the bottles when choosing my outfit for the day. The bottle that served as my primary outfit inspiration for this post is full of gorgeous pastels, including mint, peach, and lavender. When using any type of artwork as outfit inspiration, like the artwork found on the Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ bottles, I generally follow a few basic rules:
- Choose 1-3 colors that you want to be the focus of the outfit. In this case, my mint sweater was directly inspired by one of the colors on the bottle. I wanted to pair this sweater with dark gray jeans and neutral wedges to allow the beautiful hue of the sweater to stand out.
- Add a few pieces of jewelry, such as layered gold necklaces, or one statement piece (a necklace, earrings, or a cuff) that compliment the color scheme of your inspiration source.
- Allow the pattern(s) of your inspiration to shine! My bottle has various geometric shapes on it, so I thought a long geometric necklace layered with a short iridescent druzy pendant would be the perfect way to tie in the Diet Coke bottle.
- Include 1-2 “stand out” pieces to complete your look, such as a metallic clutch or oversized sunglasses, that compliment the outfit without overwhelming it.
Be sure to head to your neighborhood Target to grab your favorite Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ bottles that Coca-Cola created just for you, along with an exclusive carrier to store your bottles in. When you purchase 4 or more of the Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ glass bottles at Target you will automatically receive 10% off. These bottles are only available for a limited time (while supplies last)! I hope you are as inspired by these gorgeous glass bottles as I am! Which Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ bottle is your favorite?
