Two weeks ago we celebrated Harper’s first birthday with a little garden party at my parent’s house. It’s still hard for me to believe that my baby girl is a year old already! In thinking about her birthday and the party, I always knew that I wanted to go with a garden party theme.
I’m usually not really big on themed parties, but it just seemed right for this occasion. We decided to have a small get together with our families and close family friends, so it wouldn’t be too overwhelming. We kicked things off by picking out the invitations. Choosing invitations was a bit of a challenge since there are so many gorgeous options to choose from. We finally settled on the Garden Wreath invitations from Minted. Some of the runner’s up were the In The Garden and Floral Canopy invitations. In addition to the invitations, I was also excited when I found the perfect decorations from the Matthiola collection. We decided pretty early on that we wanted the decor to be simple and chic, rather than reminiscent of an over-the-top kid’s party, so this collection was perfect! The Matthiola collection is designed for a baby shower, however since you can personalize all of the pieces, it felt ideal for a floral themed birthday party. In order to have a garden party, we needed the perfect location. We were so thankful that we were able to have it in my parent’s backyard because we are absolutely in love with their yard. My dad maintains everything so perfectly! Not only do my parent’s have the most gorgeous backyard, it is also the home I grew up in, which made it even more special to have Harper’s first birthday there. Overall, the party was a huge success! I can’t wait to share all of the photos we took with Harper as she gets older to help her remember her special day.
