Ok hear me out: I know it is only the middle of July. Whether we are ready or not, back to school time is upon us. Getting ready to go back to school is here, and I am the type of mom who likes to be prepared. The first day of school seems to be getting earlier and earlier as each year passes. This year will be the first year both of my kids will be in school, which means getting ready for back to school needs to happen now.
Two years ago I shared a back to school style post with adidas, and today we are back at it. This year Harper will be going into 5th grade. Leo will be starting kindergarten. My kids are growing up before my eyes, and I don’t always feel emotionally prepared for it. All of my fellow moms are probably reading this thinking, “SAME”, or at least I am hoping you do. It actually almost feels impossible that this is my daughter’s last year in elementary school. I also never thought I’d see the day that Leo starts school.
We have been doing homeschool preschool with him, similar to what we did with Harper. I actually went down a rabbit hole and have to reshare an old post about preparing for homeschool preschool. Look at baby Harper! It is wild to think that I was also almost 9 months pregnant with Leo at this point in time. We have certainly come a long way since then considering both of my kids will be in school now.
Getting Ready for Back to School
In preparation for the school year starting, the number one thing kids always seem the most excited about is picking out a new backpack. Backpacks get a ton of use around our house, not only for school supplies, but also for travel. If you have been around, you know travel is a huge part of our lives, so we always have to make sure we pick out a sturdy backpack.
I am obsessed with the one Harper chose because if you know you know. I’m looking at you fellow Swifties! All I could think about was the opening of the Eras tour. I can’t help but hear “It’s been a long time coming…”Leo is now on a major Marvel kick, so he immediately gravitated toward this cute Spiderman backpack. I hate to say that I am not a huge fan of big character graphics on things, which is why I love this bag. It is a subtle nod of Spiderman without being too over the top and loud. Heads up – this bag is a bit on the smaller side, but is perfect for your kindergartener!
We made sure to also finish our back to school supply shopping last week, so I am feeling ahead of the game this year. This usually is not the case! I am hoping that my early preparedness is going to set the tone for the school year. Do you have kids going back to school soon?
