Return of the Blanket Scarf

Today I am teaming up with the beautiful Kara of the blog Mrs. Mess to share our favorite ways to wear a blogger favorite – the blanket scarf. I am so glad that Kara found me in the blogging world! It is so nice to connect with other bloggers who have a similar aesthetic and view on style. We both strive to share pieces with our readers that are accessible, affordable, and practical for the every day girl. I love that when she sent me pictures of her outfit for this post we both included similar pieces without even planning it. We clearly both have a love for the mix of leopard and plaid! To say I love my Zara scarf is an understatement. At first I felt totally ridiculous with it on because it can be very overwhelming in size, but the colder it got, the more I fell in love with it! Last year I was lucky enough to receive this one for Christmas. I tried and tried to get on the waiting list for the camel colored one, but unfortunately was unable to get my hands on it. I had total FOMO this year when I saw that Zara brought this style of scarf back, and sure enough… missed it again! I did recently pick up this oversized plaid scarf from Target over the weekend, and although it’s about half the width of the Zara version, it is definitely a great option.

Trial & Error with Agnes & Dora

TGIF! I am so excited to finally share this darling Agnes & Dora skirt with you today! I’ll be honest… I had my first total blogger fail this week. I even told my husband that we need to invest in a full length mirror after this one.You see, this is actually the second set of pictures I took with this skirt, and I am so glad I did! Do you ever get dressed and the outfit sounds/looks totally perfect in your head and even looks pretty good on a quick glance out the door? I thought I had put together a winner, and was even taking a chance with some texture mixing (i.e. a sequin front sweatshirt + this skirt). Long story short, the minute I looked at the pictures when we were finished I was totally embarrassed. The outfit that was great in my head looked absolutely ridiculous on and it was a huge let down. Thankfully I am married to someone waaaaay more patient than I am, and we were able to take another set of photos that did this skirt justice. I can’t even begin to tell you how comfortable AND flattering this skirt is! It is the perfect length for me, and I can totally see myself wearing it throughout the year, especially in the spring or summer with a white top and a pair of wedges. Since the color and print of this skirt is very light and feminine, it definitely needed something a little more tough to balance the look, like a leather jacket. Better late than never to figure that out I suppose! I would love to hear your ideas regarding how you would style this skirt, or any of the other adorable pencil skirts that Agnes & Dora have to offer.

My 30th Birthday + Piperlime Giveaway!

I can’t believe my 30th birthday has already come and gone, but I honestly could not have asked for a more amazing weekend! My day was kicked off with a delicious brunch with my husband at The Grove, followed by a mani/pedi with my mom and sister. I almost never get my nails done because I typically prefer to do them myself, but since it was my birthday I thought I would get the full treatment. I knew I wanted the theme of the day to be gold and white, and of course my nails were no exception. In the evening, my family took me to a surprise dinner at The Corn Maiden, which was out of this world! If you are ever in NM, I would highly recommend it for a special occasion. After dinner, my sister set up a birthday party at her house, complete with balloons, macarons, cupcakes, and of course, gifts. My sister got me my absolute favorite Emoji to wear as a necklace (the dancing girls!), and I can’t wait to share it on here soon. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and thoughtful family to make my day and night so special! I have a feeling my 30’s may be some of the best years yet.

Birthday Girl

It’s my birthday!!! I know I have been mentioning it for weeks now, and I am so excited that it’s finally here. Birthdays are like Christmas to me! I have always been a huge fan of my birthday, which can probably seem selfish to some, but I love having a day where I don’t have to work, I get to spend time with my favorite people, and eat lots of yummy food! I have been planning out what I wanted my birthday to look like for months now via my 30th birthday board on Pinterest. I wanted to be one of those super prepared bloggers who has an adorable post with birthday balloons and a giant tulle skirt that was ready to go live the day of their birthday, but that’s just not real life for me. But don’t worry, my birthday outfit post will be better late than never. I am pumped to finally wear my gold sequin skirt tonight (even though I have not been allowed to know what the plans are for this weekend so I really have no clue where I am wearing this skirt to). 30th Birthday Kick Off in Faux Leather Leggings

As I mentioned in my post on Monday, last Saturday my amazing husband put together a Hollywood Game Night for myself and one of my closest friends for our 30th birthdays. I am a huge fan of the show, and I actually even applied to be on it a few months ago (never heard back though… very sad!) I know from watching the show that one must dress practically for the occasion and you better believe these heels came off during certain games. I am so in love with these faux leather leggings from Lauren Conrad’s line at Kohl’s! The fabric is perfectly thick, so there are no worries about showing off any bumps or imperfections when you’re wearing them… and let’s be real – my girl LC can do no wrong when it comes to clothes or otherwise.

Florals for Fall

It’s finally starting to feel like fall around Albuquerque! Maybe I say that because the Balloon Fiesta kicked off this past weekend or because it’s almost my birthday (!!!). I had such a wonderful weekend… my husband, sister, and friends planned a Hollywood Game Night themed party for myself and one of my closest friends (who happens to be the friend who bought me this adorable purse) for our 30th birthdays. Although my actual birthday isn’t until Friday the 10th, it was so much fun kicking off the celebration on Saturday night with all of my favorite people. I can’t wait to share some pictures from the party with you all later this week! I certainly cannot be the only one who always has to have a birthday week/month…. so tell me, what is your favorite way to celebrate your birthday?
