Shades of Blue

Happy October aka the best month of the year! I am so looking forward to the weeks ahead, starting with this weekend when my birthday festivities will officially begin (even though my actual birthday isn’t until the 10th). This year I turn the big 3-0 and I am feeling fairly indifferent about it to be honest. I could never really understand the “OMG I am going to be 30” freak out, and I’m pretty confident that won’t change when the day actually comes for me. I’m just happy it’s almost my birthday! I happened to wear this outfit to a milestone (50th) birthday celebration, which was a ton of fun. I always tend to lean more toward a casual look unless the event calls for something more fancy, and for some reason I was really feeling the idea of blue-on-blue-on-blue this day. So I was pretty much set after I slipped on my trusty distressed boyfriend jeans, my all time favorite MAC lipstick, and my very New Mexico turquoise necklace.

Blue Jean Baby + Nordstrom Giveaway

The last Monday of September… can you believe it? I am sad to see it go, but can’t wait for October aka my birthday month! I am still trying to enjoy the nice weather we have had here lately, as well as the green leaves on trees because I know that won’t be lasting long. Today I am excited to introduce you all to a wonderful online store, Blue Jean Baby Clothing. We initially found each other via Instagram (@bluejeanbabyclothing), which as I have recently mentioned is my favorite way to find new online shops and boutiques. Natalie, the owner of Blue Jean Baby Clothing, was incredibly kind and generous to send me this outfit and man, did she nail my style! As soon as I received the package and tried it all on I didn’t want to take these pieces off. I honestly have a pretty difficult time finding a good pair of jeans, and I have never tried Kut from the Kloth before this pair. Thanks to Natalie, I think I may have found a new favorite brand! They are so stretchy and flattering, and definitely fit true to size. Plus the broken record in me wants to tell you that they will be long enough for all of my tall girls out there! In addition to the jeans, I also love the details of both the top and blazer. I mean, a polka dot lined blazer and a cut-out top with a sheer neckline? YES please! Mixed Prints + OASAP Giveaway

Can you believe yesterday was the first day of fall? I am definitely going to miss the warmer summer months, but as I get older I think fall has become my favorite season. I love fall fashion, especially pieces with unique details, such as this top with faux leather sleeves. Black on Black with Pearls

Here we are… the middle of the week! So happy we are getting closer and closer to the weekend. Today I wanted to share an outfit from last week that I wore for our anniversary dinner. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Indigo Crow. They have the most delicious lobster risotto, which is of course what I had for dinner! We also must talk about the other star of the show: my Chanel pearls. When my husband and I finally set a wedding date (have you ever seen The Five Year Engagement? yeah… that was us!) I knew I wanted a simple, un-embellished dress and a stand out piece of jewelry. Enter: Chanel and my amazing Mom. My Mom gifted these to me as my “something new” for my wedding day. Since I got married, I mainly wear them for our anniversary date night. I feel like they can’t be worn just any old day, but truthfully, I really should wear them more often! I am thinking they will need to be a part of my upcoming 30th birthday outfit, but I will have to see how they look with the sequin skirt I just purchased for the big day!

A Touch of Leopard + Spotlight Weekly Link-Up

TGIT! This week has been a great one for me so far, and I hope it has been just as wonderful for you! On Monday my husband and I drove up to Santa Fe for a little pre-anniversary date to see the one and only Aziz Ansari. It was at a place called the Lensic Theater, which I had never been to or even heard of before this show. It was amazing! Such a cool and intimate space, and Aziz was as hilarious as ever. If you saw my post from yesterday you will know we celebrated our third wedding anniversary. Man does time fly! We had so much fun kicking off the week doing something that we both enjoy and that is different for us (it’s rare that any good comedians come to New Mexico). We arrived to the venue at the perfect time to (quickly) enjoy the sunset and snaps a few blog photos. From there, the week just kept getting better and better!
