Return of the Flares

I’ll be honest, when I first bought these jeans from Gap I did not think they would remind me so much of the oh-so-coveted L.E.I. jeans I wore in middle school. Please tell me I am not the only one who couldn’t wait to go to JCPenney to get a new pair and wear them out until they were practically falling apart. The Long & Lean cut from Gap are a great grown up replacement: they have the perfect amount of flare to them, are fitted in all the right places, and have just enough give without having to worry about them stretching out a size or two after you wear them for a few hours. OK, OK… enough about the jeans, can we talk about this view? My husband and I always have so much fun on the weekends trying to find a different place to take pictures that show off our beautiful city and state. I absolutely love this view of the mountains! In my experience, when people think of New Mexico, the first thing they tend to associate it with is a place that is out in the middle of nowhere. Living in Albuquerque for almost my entire life, among all of the natural beauty it has to offer, I have to say I truly live in the middle of somewhere… and this somewhere is like nothing else in the world! DIY Distressed Jeans

I honestly don’t think that when we got married, my husband thought he would be signing himself up for all of the things he helps me with these days, including (but not limited to) taking every single picture for my blog and helping me distress an old pair of jeans. To be fair, I think the percentage of the DIY job looked more like 85% him and 15% me. I found a few tutorials on Pinterest, which are pinned to my DIY section, that were really helpful in this process. I hardly ever wear these jeans anymore, and debated listing them to my Poshmark closet, but figured I would try bringing some life into them first. And when I say “I”, what I really mean is that I had the idea and my husband executed it. It honestly took quite a bit longer than I thought it would, but I am so happy with the finished product! Paired with this fun ombre top and some navy accessories, I couldn’t wait to take my new-to-me jeans out for a spin. I hope you are all having a wonderful week. Pink Blush Printed Maxi

How is the holiday weekend already over? I had such a wonderful long weekend and am so sad to see it end. I hope you all had a great weekend as well! Today I am featuring this beautiful printed maxi dress from Pink Blush. If you read my previous post you will know that one of my favorite things about this dress is the length. Are you sick of me talking about how hard it is to find maxi dresses that are long enough yet? I also love how soft the material is on this dress, and can totally picture myself wearing it with a blazer or lightweight sweater when the weather cools down. This dress can go from day to night, and in my case, was perfect for an evening out with my husband. We took Joanie with us for dinner on the patio of a great little pizza place near the University and the weather was unbelievably perfect. Happy 4th of July + A Giveaway!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I can’t believe it’s already here! I hope you all have some fun plans for your (hopefully long) weekend. I am looking forward to spending time with and BBQing with family & friends, and of course relaxing at home. Warm Weather Accessories

Summer is in full effect in Albuquerque right now. The past few days we have hit 100 degrees, and thankfully it is supposed to cool down into the low 90’s for the rest of the week (we are catching a real break here!) When the temperature rises, I always try to opt to wear something light and easy, such as this Target dress from last summer. I don’t typically buy things in multiple colors, but I have two of these dresses because they are so comfortable and versatile! These pictures were very un-blogger like of me because I am wearing so many “old” pieces, but this is real life… I am always re-wearing basics and trying to remix new items with my tried and true favorites. You can never go wrong with a simple black dress because it can always be accessorized differently and re-made into something completely new and fresh! Case and point:
