When it comes to skincare products, I really try my hardest to use as many clean beauty products/ingredients as possible. I am certainly aware that some of the brands I use and love aren’t necessarily “clean,” but I do like to switch up my routine often. I recently shared both the Dr. Hauschka cleansing milk and facial toner for my September beauty hits and misses, but just had to share them again.

The price point for all of these products is definitely a little more steep than your typical drugstore product. I know that makes some people hesitant to give them a try. Trust me, I don’t love putting a ton of money out for products either! The fact that I know I am putting products onto my skin that are a lot better for me does make spending the money a lot easier.
Easy Nighttime Skincare Routine
In terms of the order I use each product, I am a creature of habit. I like to alternate taking my makeup off with the cleansing oil and the makeup wipes every other day. Once my makeup is removed, I cleanse my face with the Dr. Hauschka cleansing milk. Next, I spray the facial toner all over my face and lightly press it in with the palms of my hands. If I’m feeling extra fancy or my skin is looking rough, I will use the clay mask 1-2 times per week before toning. Once the toner is dry, I apply a thin layer of the night serum, followed by the retinol cream. Last I’ll dab a small amount of the Derma firming lift eye cream and viola! Easy nighttime skincare routine with some clean beauty favorites!

Ever have those weeks where you aren’t quite sure what day it is? I swear I thought it was Thursday a few times this week. It clearly wasn’t. Now it’s finally here, and thank goodness. If you’ve been following my IG stories (@lindsayrutland) you may have seen that were are completely re-doing our guest room and man, that’s all that’s been on my mind. It all has to be complete by this weekend, and I can’t wait to show you how it turned out!

Loading InLinkz ... I have been all about shopping for some fall staple pieces lately. Oddly enough, the temperatures here have been thinking it’s winter. To say I was freezing while taking these pictures is an understatement. I must have looked like the biggest loser holding my jacket instead of wearing it haha! It’s all in the name of blogging because I am saving this amazing sweater blazer for another day.

Yesterday was my birthday, and I have to say it was one of my favorites yet. I spent the day with my family, and it was super low key in the very best way. We ate lots of delicious food, and even spent some time at the pumpkin patch. I was talking to someone at work the other day about getting older. She had mentioned that she didn’t look forward to birthday’s anymore, after I had said that I have always loved mine. For some people, getting older is a negative thing. I truly feel like I’m in such a good place in my life right now that getting older doesn’t worry me.

I think I set myself up for failure last month in my August beauty hits and misses. I totally started bragging on myself for getting my post up right as the beginning of the month hit, and this month… not so much. Things have been extra busy throughout September, so I guess I should just be happy I put this together at all! I didn’t even try too many new products in September, but the ones that I did have quickly become new favorites of mine.

Being both self-employed and an independent contractor has come with a variety of ups and downs. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, however some of the more challenging aspects have turned out to be the most expensive and stressful (hello taxes!). Not only am I an independent contractor, but my husband is too. Long gone are our corporate job days, which also means we had to say goodbye to our insurance coverage.

Choosing the plan that is right for your family can be tricky. There are a few things to keep in mind while doing so. These include how often you see your doctor, the medications you take, and any medical conditions you already have. It’s also important to consider what you can afford monthly and are willing to pay out of pocket.
