Today’s Weekly Style Edit link up with Megan from Fashionista Momma is definitely one of my favorites so far because as soon as the weather cools down, I pretty much live in cardigans! They’re especially great as a layering piece when it’s still warm out, which you know it has been here in Albuquerque. I feel like I’m always wearing jeans or pants, so I decided to switch it up a bit and throw on a dress for once. This striped Old Navy dress is probably over 2 years old, but is something I’ve held on to because you never know when you might need a basic striped dress. There is a very similar striped swing dress available now and is on sale for $15. Stripes and leopard are one of my favorite ways to pattern mix, and I immediately knew I wanted to liven the outfit up a bit with my leopard foldover clutch. I know I’ve shared this Gray Monroe leopard clutch a million times before (last seen here), but it’s so perfectly roomy and only $40! If you don’t have one already, you definitely need to pick one up for fall.

How to Dress For Fall (When It Still Feels Like Summer Out)

how to dress for fallI don’t know about where you live, but here in New Mexico is seriously still feels like summer most days. I think yesterday it was around 80 degrees… definitely not what you would expect for the first week of October. Don’t get me wrong, I am not in a rush to say goodbye to summer, but it does make getting dressed in the morning a bit of a challenge at times. Here are the top 4 tips I live by when it comes to dressing for fall when it still feels like summer out:
1. Layer, layer, layer! – I recently posted this outfit, and have definitely worn it multiple times since. The top I am wearing is a tank top, which is perfect for the days when it is 80 degrees in the afternoon, but really chilly in the morning when leaving for work. Throwing a jean jacket over the top of pretty much anything (tops, sweaters, dresses, etc.) is ideal for fall!
2. Try a cold shoulder or off the shoulder top – I wore this cold shoulder blouse over the weekend when we visited Wagner’s Farm to pick up some fresh green chile, and it was loose and airy enough to keep me cool in the sun. I love the idea of a cold shoulder top layered with a blazer or utility vest as well.
3. Throw a cardigan on – Maybe it’s because I live somewhere that doesn’t actually experience fall until mid to late October (or later), but I am a huge fan of cardigans. My ideal outfit throughout the year is a good tee or tank with a cardigan and my favorite pair of jeans. Choose your desired thickness depending on what you are layering it with.
4. Opt for lightweight pieces – A great pair of distressed jeans and a flowy blouse are always good options to keep you cool when the temperatures are high, and are just right to keep you warm if needed. This also goes for shoes – a nice lightweight pair of ankle boots can be worn with a dress or jeans no matter what the forecast throws your way.

Oh my gosh you guys, tomorrow is OCTOBER! Can you even believe it? October is by far my favorite month because it is my birthday month, and there are a lot of exciting things happening in the next few weeks. Next week my husband and I are going to be seeing two of our favorite bands – Mumford & Sons and City & Colour. I was actually just checking the weather and the night that we see Mumford it is finally supposed to be pretty chilly here (think mid 60’s). Can you believe that this is the last week of September? I feel like I’m always saying something similar at the end of every month, but it’s really been shocking to me how quickly this year has flown by. The past few days here have actually begun to feel like fall, with cooler temperatures and the leaves changing color. Although I’m not completely ready to say goodbye to the heat, I am excited to start wearing boots and long sleeves on a more regular basis!
I recently shared an outfit featuring this Zaful off the shoulder top, and I have to say I love this floral print tunic just as much. Both are a bit oversized, which is perfect for the fall because they can both be paired with leggings or skinny jeans. The Weekly Style Edit Link Up: Denim

Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week so far, and are ready for the weekend like I am! Today Megan from The Fashionista Momma and I are sharing our favorite denim looks for The Weekly Style Edit link up, so of course I had to take advantage and incorporate double denim in my outfit! I’m sure you all know by now that I could basically live in denim, whether it’s a pair of skinny jeans, boyfriend shorts for summer, or my favorite black distressed pair. I have actually had this denim jacket since high school (it’s from Hollister, haha!), but it’s just too good to let go of. It’s perfectly broken in and so easy to throw on over pretty much anything. I’m also excited to finally break in my new pair of Sam Edelman boots that I have literally had on my wish list for years. I happened to find them on Amazon for $65, which seemed way too good to be true, but here they are! Be prepared to see them a lot around here.

Dandelion Print Wrap Dress

If you’ve been a reader of Middle of Somewhere for awhile, you may remember that I shared a gorgeous herringbone cape from eShakti almost 2 years ago when I was pregnant. Now that fall and winter are right around the corner, I have a feeling I’ll be pulling that cape out again and again! Thankfully the weather isn’t quite cool enough yet for the cape, but it has been perfect enough to continue to wear flowy dresses and open toe shoes! I’m always on the hunt for midi and maxi dresses, especially dresses that can be worn for various occasions. As soon as I spotted this wrap dress from eShakti, I knew it had to be mine. I love that eShakti allows you to customize every one of their pieces, and upon ordering, I decided that I would prefer a cap sleeve versus the longer stock sleeve of the dress. Calling all tall and/or curvy girls, this dress is for you! I’m actually thinking I might wear it for my birthday that’s coming up in a few weeks, paired with my red Sole Society sandals that I wore in my previous post.
