Oh shorts… one of my least favorite pieces of clothing ever. This is only the second time I have ever shared myself in a pair of shorts on Middle of Somewhere. Why do I dislike shorts so much you may be wondering (0r not). As a tall girl with thicker legs, finding shorts can be nearly impossible. They’re always way too short for me and tend to hug my thighs in all of the most unflattering ways. If you’ve been a reader for awhile, you also know that my legs are probably my least favorite body part. I’m not trying to sound negative, but rather be honest because hey, we all have body parts we would rather conceal!
When summer began, I decided it was time to find a pair of shorts that I actually felt good in. This was no easy feat! It is just way too hot here some days that hiding behind my jeans is not an option. I spent so much time Googling variations of the “best shorts for tall girls” without much luck. Then I decided to stick with what I know and I searched around online at Gap. I love Gap for so many reasons, especially because they offer tall lengths in most of their jeans/shorts/pants. The shorts I’m wearing today have 5.5″ inseam (an extra 0.5″ because I ordered them in tall). I also went up one size to make sure they were a little looser on my legs, which is way to go if you have thicker thighs!
If you’re looking for a cute pair of black shorts, be sure to head over to Megan’s post to see how she styled a pair today. We would also love for you to join us for The Weekly Style Edit link up at the end of the post. Bonus points if you want to share your shorts outfits with us!

When Megan and I decided that this week’s trend for The Weekly Style Edit would be eyelet, this top was the first thing that came to mind. I’ve actually had it for awhile now, and can’t believe I haven’t shared it yet! While putting together today’s outfit, I realized that this top is perfect for the 4th of July. I threw on my favorite pair of red sandals, and immediately felt like I needed to go watch some fireworks. This eyelet blouse is definitely versatile enough that it could be worn with a pair of shorts or lighter wash denim because something about it just screams summer.
I have shared these red Sole Society sandals on the blog before, and was excited to share them again today. I usually give a major eye roll when I hear girls say that a certain pair of heels are comfortable, but these ones actually are. Feel free to roll your eyes! The height of these are really manageable, even for tall girls like myself. I have a wedding to attend in a few weeks, and am actually planning my outfit around these sandals because I know they’ll be comfortable enough to wear all night long.
If you’re looking for some more Fourth of July outfit inspiration, be sure to check out my post from last week where I shared some different pieces that would be perfect to celebrate in. Also, be sure to head to the bottom of the post to link up with Megan from The Fashionista Momma and I for The Weekly Style Edit! We will also be sharing our favorites from the #TheWeeklyStyleEdit on Instagram, so we would love for you to include the hashtag in your posts!

Happy Thursday! Why do the shortest weeks always wind up being the craziest? Maybe it’s having to play catch up, or trying to cram 5 days of work into 4. Either way, I’m so ready for the weekend! I am also really excited to share today’s post with you, since it’s been in the works for a few weeks. Back in April I had the chance to go to Nashville to meet up with a group of my favorite blogger friends. The majority of us had never met before, and I honestly wound up having one of the best weekends ever!
Today 4 of us thought it would be fun to style the same polka dot midi dress (that we were introduced to by Chanel). We all have very different body types and style aesthetics, and thought it would be helpful for you to see the same dress styled 4 ways. You all already know my love for midi dresses, and this polka dot number is universally flattering! Be sure to head to each lovely ladies blog post to see how they wore their midi dress.
Chanel of Chanel Moving Forward: Chanel is as real as they get! She is so thoughtful, and can plan a party like nobody’s business. Seriously, you have to check out her parties on her blog – they are incredible! I would describe her style as classic and timeless, and she is the queen of the midi length. She always wears the cutest skirts and dresses!
JeeYoung of Simply Every: JeeYoung is like my long lost sister! We are similar in so many ways, and I always appreciate her honesty. She’s a boy mama x 3 and today is her littlest boys birthday! Happy birthday, B!). I love her polished, yet laid back style. She’s also a fellow tall girl, which you know makes me so happy to find.
Val of Lovely Lucky Life: Val is by far one of the funniest people I have ever met. She kills it in the casual style department, and shares the epitome of cute mom style! I would definitely say my style aesthetic is the most similar to Val’s. If we were the same size, I’d totally love to raid her wardrobe!
Today is also link up day! Megan of The Fashionista Momma and I are sharing two different styles of midi dresses that are both perfect for summer! We would love for you to join us by adding your favorite outfit post of the week to the link up below.

Today Megan from The Fashionista Momma and I are back for another edition of The Weekly Style Edit link up. With Memorial Day coming up this weekend, we had summer on the brain! We thought it would be fun to share some of our summer style must haves with you. I took a trip down memory lane and rounded up a few of my all time favorite pieces for summer. After checking out my must haves, be sure to come link up with Megan and I at the end of the post!
A great pair of white jeans are a summer staple of mine because they can be worn so many different ways. I was on the hunt for the perfect pair for the longest time, and finally stumbled upon some from LOFT. The material is not see through at all and is just the right thickness without feeling too heavy for the hot summer months.
I recently shared this gorgeous blue midi dress for a previous Weekly Style Edit link up, and I still can’t get enough. Midi dresses are truly my favorite cut, especially for the hot summer months. Shorter dresses just aren’t my thing, especially since becoming a mom. I love the look of a midi dress paired with a pair of wedges or flat sandals to throw on during those hot summer days.
A simple panama hat can pretty much be worn with any outfit. Dresses, jeans, shorts, or with a swimsuit at the beach or pool. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a super cute addition to your outfit, while being functional at the same time. It’s a great way to make sure your head and face are protected from the sun.
Can’t stop, won’t stop with the overalls. I now own two different pairs and find myself drawn to them in the spring and summer months. I love pairing my overalls with a simple tee and sandals, for an easy on-the-go outfit. If I were more of a shorts girl, I’d definitely buy a shorts pair as well. I linked a super cute pair below!
You know I could live in maxi dresses! I am especially fond of styles that have slits on the sides and other unique details. Maxi dresses can serve as a swimsuit cover up and can take you from day to night in a pinch!
I love a cute pair of wedges, but they aren’t always practical for my every day life. I am really loving the flatform and espadrille trends that have been popping up the past few years. They are perfect if you’re a tall girl like myself, or just looking for something in between a wedge and a flat pair of sandals.
