How to Style Hunter Boots For Fall

Let’s just get one thing straight – I am a total #basicblogger and of course had to get a pair of Hunter boots. You may be wondering why would someone who lives in New Mexico need a pair of rain boots? I wondered the same before I bought these. Once they finally arrived, I received confirmation as to why these are necessary and a part of every bloggers fall/winter wardrobe. These boots are so warm and cozy, I kind of never want to take them off! Even if it’s not raining out, they are the perfect addition to any fall or winter look.

This pair of Hunter boots are actually the adjustable back boots. I’ve talked a lot before about how I have thicker legs/calves, and almost always have to buy wide calf boots. I was honestly really nervous before ordering these thinking that they would still be too snug, but they are just perfect! I’ve come to realize that Hunter boots are the perfect pair of boots to wear with just about any outfit. So far I have only styled them with jeans, but plan to wear them with some of my fall dresses as well. I love the look of thigh high socks paired with boots, so I am not on the hunt for the perfect pair. If you have any recommendations, send them my way!

Affordable Makeup Favorites for Fall

Fall is in full swing, which usually prompts me to want to switch up my makeup routine. I don’t typically go all out and wear a dark lip color or try a bold smoky eye, but I do like to incorporate some warmer colors into my routine. Also, I typically have a hard time spending a lot of money on makeup products. I tend to get sick of using the same thing over and over, especially eyeshadows and lip products. Today I wanted to share some affordable makeup favorites for fall that are all under $25!

If you follow a lot of bloggers, you may remember a few months ago when Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara was released. Everyone went crazy over it, so of course I had to give it a try. Prior to this, I had become completely obsessed with It Cosmetics Superhero mascara, but wasn’t a fan of it’s price tag. Now that I have tried Lash Paradise, I’m not sure I’ll ever turn back. Give it a try with the Voluminous lash primer underneath. Be sure to thank me later because your lashes will look amazing! My husband has even commented on how much longer my lashes look, which is not feedback I typically hear.

Now that your lashes are covered, I urge you to give the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner a try! It is by far the best liquid liner I have ever used, and makes perfecting a cat eye a piece of cake. Complete your eye look with shadow from this gorgeous Pixi eyeshadow palette, and your eyes are all set! Don’t forget a little lip color. If you’re like me and prefer a subtle tint over a bold lip, you’ll love the IPKN Twinkle Lips lip tint. I am completely in love with this product. Rose Gold Jewelry for Fall with JTV

If I could pick one style of jewelry to wear for the rest of my life, I would most definitely focus on delicate pieces. On a typical day, you can catch me wearing a pair of dainty earrings and at least one small gold necklace. I usually gravitate toward gold pieces, as I find them to be the most versatile. Rose gold has been a material that I love the look of, yet have never actually tried to wear. I was recently introduced to a beautiful line of rose gold jewelry from JTV and immediately fell in love.

In choosing jewelry, I love to find pieces that are either personalized or hold a special meaning. JTV has a huge selection of birthstone pieces, so naturally I stuck with opal and emerald. My birthday is in October, and I love that opal is my birth stone. There are also a few other very special birthdays in October, including my mom’s birthday, which is the day before mine, and my late grandpa, who shared the same birthday as me. When I wear anything opal, I always feel like I have my mom and grandpa close to me! My daughter and husband were both born in May, so I also find myself drawn toward anything that incorporates emerald.

Rose gold jewelry is also perfect for the fall! The warm tone can brighten up and add visual interest to any outfit. Maxi Dress for Fall & My New Favorite Jewelry

Would you believe I have actually never worn a maxi dress beyond the summer before? Summer maxi dresses are my jam. I’ve always loved the look of a maxi dress with a big chunky blanket scarf for fall, but always struggled to find the right pair of shoes to go with it. I feel like flats are a bit too laid back, and certain ankle boots look too overwhelming. This is also probably because I am tall and most maxi dresses are not quite long enough for me, so I can’t wear anything with a heel. The dress I am wearing today is a bit shorter than I prefer, but works perfectly with boots when tied in a side knot. I was also thrilled when I finally found the right pair of boots to wear with it!

I am also rocking some of my new favorite jewelry today. The day before my birthday I received the most gorgeous jewelry from Simply Chic Jewelry. This happened to be perfect timing because each ring and necklace has a gorgeous piece of opal on it, which is my birthstone. Be prepared to see me wearing these rings all the time around here! Travel Guide to San Diego (With a Toddler)

Two weeks ago I traveled with my husband and 2.5 year old daughter to San Diego. The main goal of the trip was blog related: to co-host the Live Plentiful launch party in Carlsbad. When the event was first planned, I thought I would traveling to San Diego solo, but plans quickly changed. I have traveled to San Diego on multiple occasions throughout my life, but have never really explored as much of the city as we did during this most recent trip. We spent the majority of our time in La Jolla, but spent time in Carlsbad and near Pacific Beach as well.

Where to Stay in La Jolla:

The Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla was even more dreamy in person than I thought it would be based on the photos I saw beforehand. It is only a few minute walk from the beach, and I fell in love with the nautical vibes throughout the property. We arrived before check in time, but were able to access the pool and had a great time. Harper could live in the water, so spending a few hours at the pool was ideal. Mind you, we even went to the beach before the pool, so it was a water filled day for us! After enjoying the San Diego sun, we checked in to our room. I am sharing the view from our room below, which was incredible! We definitely could not have asked for a more gorgeous view (or comfortable bed!) The entire staff was so nice, and made us feel at home throughout our stay.

Where to Eat & What to Do in La Jolla:

The first day when we arrived, we ate a big breakfast at Snooze. I actually ate there during my last San Diego trip and knew I had to go back. Their cold brew is actually one of the highlights for me, and pretty much anything you order on the menu is delicious. The second morning we walked down to Cody’s, the cutest brunch spot near the water (pictured above). I was sold as soon as I saw the succulents everywhere, and the food was incredible. If you’re a beer fan, another honorable mention spot in La Jolla is Karl Strauss Brewing Company. Their Wreck Alley Imperial Stout is out of this world!

We loved being able to walk down to the beach from our hotel. When we first arrived we walked down to the water and had fun splashing around! Harper loved playing in the sand, and could have spent all day out there if we let her! We also checked out the seals at the Children’s Pool on the second day of our trip(pictured below). It was a bit overcast that day, but still the perfect temperature out!

Visiting Coronado Beach, Carlsbad, and Pacific Beach:

I’m sure you can sense a theme by now… we basically lived at the beach! There are so many fun beaches to check out, including great food, breweries, and coffee shops along the way. We made a quick trip to Coronado Beach and took photos at the Dunes (stay tuned for those!). The Live Plentiful event was in Carlsbad at Flourish Boutique, and I completely fell in love with the town. The street where the boutique was located was straight out of a movie, and we discovered some really cool shops and our new favorite happy hour spot, which of course was kid friendly! If you have a chance to check out a Barrel Republic – do it!

On our last day of the trip we stopped in Pacific Beach in the afternoon. We were dying for some fish tacos, so we stopped at The Fish Shop. The tacos definitely lived up to their hype. After lunch we played in the water again and walked around the board walk. If you are in the San Diego area, please do yourself a favor and grab a cup of coffee at Better Buzz Coffee. Their iced dirty chai with almond milk is to die for! We grabbed some coffee before heading to the airport because flying with a toddler is no easy feat.

How to Get Around:

Renting the right car can sometimes be tricky. If you’re like me, it’s hard to decide just how much room you may need, especially when traveling with a toddler. When traveling with Harper, we seem to pack double the amount of bags than we normally would. Thanks to Mazda we were able to drive a 2017 Mazda CX-5 around San Diego. You may remember that we previously had a chance to drive a CX-9, which was equally as amazing! The CX-5 was a bit smaller, which was perfect for a quick 72 hour trip. It was really comfortable to drive, and Harper loved being able to put the windows down and enjoy the beautiful California sunshine while driving.
