Are you just completely sick of this sale yet? I promised I wouldn’t overload you with posts about it, so here is my second (and probably final) one. If you haven’t heard yet, today is the first day of public access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I wanted to do a quick round up of my favorites under $50, since you know I’m all about budget friendly shopping. Earlier this week I shared my favorites under $100, plus a huge $500 gift card giveaway that you don’t want to miss!

I actually picked up my very first pair of Zella leggings after hearing so many other ladies raving about them. My order still hasn’t arrived, so fingers crossed they are as amazing everyone says they are. I also ordered the Lush Side Slit Tee because it seems like such a perfect basic tee! There are a few more pieces on my wish list right now, and think that the tie front pullover will be my next purchase. I also adore the Sole Society crossbody that is on sale, as it reminds me a lot of the Thalia crossbody that I own and love.

I recently shared my frustrations about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale on my Insta-stories because you guys know I’m all about telling it like it is. If you follow any other bloggers, you will have probably read about this sale 25083729 times already. I know that I get sick of being bombarded with it, so I have a feeling that you might be too. I promised that although I would be posting about the sale, I would keep it to probably 2 posts total. Rather than sharing a multitude of posts, I thought it might be easier to continuously update as the sale is live.

Navy Dress & Why I Suck at Being a Fashion Blogger

Happy Tuesday friends, I hope your week is off to a good start. Tonight I was talking to a friend I met in this crazy blogging world and was joking about a few of the reasons I suck at the fashion blogging game. Honestly, I don’t even really like to use the term ‘fashion blogger’. I much prefer to consider myself a personal style blogger. We can save that discrepancy for a whole separate post, but let’s just say the fashion blogging game can be rough. Feeling like you always have to shop and buy new things to share is no joke. I really find myself struggling with this, especially during my first year of blogging. After having a baby, I realized that I just can’t keep up and don’t really want to. This is just one of the reasons why I suck at being a fashion blogger.

When I started this blog, my goal was to share my personal style and hope to inspire others with a similar body type (and budget, haha!) My lifestyle does not and will not ever be one that allows me to shop all of the time. I enjoy buying pieces that I can wear over and over, and find new ways to style them. I love wearing basics and shopping at stores like Old Navy and Target. 99% of the outfits I post are ones that I actually wear, which is why I rarely wear heels or a lot of accessories. I don’t really like bombarding you with every sale that pops up, unless it’s one that I plan to shop myself. (Disclaimer: yes, the Nordstrom sale is coming in a few days and I plan to post about it, but I promise not to overwhelm you!)

I felt like today’s outfit was the perfect opportunity to share these thoughts because it is everything I strive to share. A navy dress that is so versatile and can be worn a million different ways and through every season. A pair of wedges that I bought last summer and still wear all of the time. My favorite turquoise statement necklace that I’ve shared at least 3 times on here. My go-to sunglasses that were a true investment piece, and were worth every penny.

8 Summer Wardrobe Essentials

When it comes to my summer wardrobe, there are certain pieces that never seem to change from year to year. I could live in maxi dresses and cute sandals. I love to accessorize any with a great pair of sunglasses and some statement jewelry. Today I am sharing my 8 summer wardrobe essentials that you need in your closet! I am also a fan of many of these pieces because they can easily transition to fall, and I’m all about versatility and getting a lot of wear out of my wardrobe! What are some of your summer wardrobe essentials?

8 Summer Wardrobe Essentials

1. A cold shoulder maxi dress – Cold shoulder anything is all the rage right now, and what better way to rock the trend than with a cute maxi? I definitely prefer maxi dresses to shorter dresses, and a cold shoulder helps keep you cool when the temperatures rise!

2. A pair of tortoise sunglasses – You guys know I basically live in my Karen Walker sunglasses all year long. Summer is the perfect time of year to wear a fun pair of statement glasses. Tortoise is always my go-to color because they can be worn with any outfit! Sometimes I feel limited with black sunglasses, so tortoise is right up my alley.

3. A comfortable pair of wedges – Anytime I want to dress up an otherwise casual outfit, a comfortable pair of wedges are always essential. I haven’t stopped wearing these oh-so-coveted Marc Fisher dupes since I bought them a few months ago. I love that wedges are so versatile and can be worn with jeans, shorts, or dresses.

4. A pair of overalls – If you don’t own overalls by now, what are you waiting for? If I can wear them, I think anyone can! Finding the perfect pair might be a little tricky, but is so worth it once you do. I am also loving the shorts version, and might need to pick up a pair of those next.

5. A simple knotted tee – The perfect layering piece that takes a basic t-shirt to another level. I pretty much wear this tee at least once a week, and just can’t get enough! You can never go wrong with stripes, and a little knot detail is the cutest finishing touch.

6. The perfect pair of white jeans – A good pair of white jeans are hard to find. When I finally found a pair that I loved, I knew I couldn’t pass them up. White jeans are causal enough to dress down during the day, and perfect to dress up at night.

7. Statement jewelry – I love a good statement piece, whether it’s a chunky necklace or a pair of tassel earrings. Bright colors like red, yellow, and turquoise just scream summer! You can shop my tassel earrings and turquoise bracelet set here (Jewelry c/o Elaine Turner).

8. An embroidered dress – A fun spin on your typical summer sundress. I do tend to gravitate toward solid dresses, however every once and awhile I love throwing on something more interesting. Summer time usually means weddings, showers, and parties, and an embroidered dress is a great option!

Weekday Uniform // Relaxed T-Shirt & Jeans

For some, a weekday uniform consists of dresses, dressy tops, or some other type of business casual outfit. I, on the other hand, am lucky enough to pretty much be able to wear some version of jeans and a t-shirt 7 days a week. I don’t talk a lot about my full time job on my blog or social media, but essentially I am a contractor in the mental health field. Don’t worry, I’m not rocking jogger pants and flip flops, but you can definitely find me wearing comfortable basics. I should probably work for or be some kind of Old Navy spokesperson at this point. I don’t think a day goes by that I am not wearing something from there. I’ve said it a million times, but I basically live in their Rockstar jeans and have a pair in almost every wash/color.

I don’t want to spend all of my time on today’s post talking about my outfit because let’s be real, it’s fairly #basic. I do want to talk to you all a little bit about an exciting new online lifestyle/media brand that Megan from The Fashionista Momma and I have created. Live Plentiful will be a one stop shop to find everything you need from beauty and fashion inspiration to recipes, DIY, and home decor. We are planning to launch in August, but in the meantime you can join our Facebook group to stay up to date.
